How did you get your husband to TTC??

I have such bad baby fever and I think the timing is right. But he is always hesitant and needing something else to be in place before “trying” we are both 27 years old. No kids. We have a home. We have stable jobs. WHAT DO I SAY OR DO??

You can’t “get” your husband to do anything unfortunately. It’s his choice as much as yours. You have to wait till he is ready to try to change him or trick him is unfair.

I’m in the same boat as you! My husband has said that he wants to wait to have time alone but this year we have been married 2 years. I have seen him watching babies when we are running errands and he loves them. Last night he told me he wants to TTC and I was so surprised. I did not want to push him into it because I didn’t want him stressed out. If mine can change his mind maybe yours will too!

My husband insisted he wanted kids, but always seemed hesitant about when to start trying. I finally sat down and had a long conversation with him about what concerns he had. He said that he doesn't know what to expect with a baby, since he has never cared for one before. He's worried that he won't be able to handle it and support me enough. Once we got this all out in the open, he was much more open to discussing it.

Start by not trying to make him want kids.

Introduce the idea but give him time to get used to it. Men want to provide and often feel (at least in my experience) that they can’t start a family until everything is perfect. Which it never is. My husband was worried too. We had several long conversations about it and it helped him to work through his worries and address issues he had. We started trying when he said he was ready.

We just talked about it. We both knew we wanted to be parents and we wanted to have our kids at a young age. After about 6 months of debating we decided we were ready.
