Oh. My. Sweet. Baby. Jeebus....

I just downed half this bottle. Im 40+1 weeks today. Midwife told me this morning to drink 2 ounces of this crap and then in 4-6 hours another 2 ounces. I didnt bother mixing bc honestly id rather deal with a quick shot/chug of straight nasty over having to drink a huge glass of slightly diluted nasty. Sooo now we wait. Tomorrow is another appointment for a non stress test, and another check and membrane sweep. But maybe this gnarly castor oil will do the trick tonight. Ugh but man it was grosssssssss.... Anyone have any experience where castor oil actually worked and put them into labor??

Look up evidence based birth that actually has scientific studies for castor oil.

This!!!! Thank you ladies. I was starting to feel like the only input id get was bashing and fear mongering. Ridiculous. Especially coming from people whos profiles spout "no mom shaming" lol. Its rough to have your intelligence insulted like we would do some thing potentially harmful to our children or not do the proper research before trying something unknown. This is totally the reason i see midwives and not an OB.

Yes itโ€™s actually FINE! Thank you for bringing up evidence based birth. So sick of women fear mongering each other about castor oil when they have read zero scientific evidence and only regurgitate outdated information due to fear which actually is exactly what the whole obstetric profession is based on so I guess I shouldnโ€™t be surprised ๐Ÿ™„

Everything I have ever heard about drinking castor oil is very bad and potentially deadly.

My midwife suggested it as well, the exact same instructions, who's to say her doctor is any more educated than our midwives. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ dont worry mamma you got this! Just be prepared & ready by the toilet ๐Ÿ˜‰

That I am most certainly not doing. I have stated multiple times I'm in no way trying to hurt anyone's feeling or be mean , everything I've said it's purely out of concern.

Make sure you stay hydrated and good luck! Any studies done on castor oil show it's safe after 40 weeks. It does NOT cross the placenta and won't make baby poop. Just make sure you drink lots of water if it makes you poop you will get dehydrated fast and THAT might cause baby distress. It only works about 54% of the time though, so if these doses don't work I'd probably opt to not make myself miserable by trying again.

Good call on the electrolytes! I hope it works for you, I had both my babies before their due dates but I imagine being overdue is so frustrating and I imagine drinking that nasty stuff for no reason would be like rubbing salt in the wound lol.

Thanks a lot! I did the research and found the same stuff! I would never even try something i thought would harm my LO, nor would i do something blindly without first educating myself. So many fear mongers out there. I would definitely NOT try this a second time tho lol. However i have been drinking plenty of water as well as electrolyte supplement to be sure i dont dehydrate. Thank you for your helpful and encouraging input ๐Ÿ’Ÿ๐Ÿ’Ÿ๐Ÿ’Ÿ
