Possible missed miscarriage
Back story; I should be 7 weeks 5 days today. My last period was Jan 3, but I know I ovulated later due to ovulation tests, so from the ovulation date I am 7 weeks 5 days. I had an ectopic pregnancy in August 2018 so am very nervous about this babe. I had hcg blood work done at 4 weeks 2 days, 4 weeks 4 days and then 5 weeks 1 day (2,300)- doubled perfectly. No other tests were scheduled until my upcoming on appt this coming Tuesday.
I went to the ER this morning (my dr is on vacation and the nurse advised me if I needed some reassurance that I would have to go there to be seen and have any tests ordered. I just woke up this morning and was panicking that something was wrong with the baby, I could not rationalize my feelings.) I checked in at the ER and was almost having a panic attack. They drew blood for an hcg test- the number came back 21,000. He came in all cocky like oh you’re number is 21,000. I said well that’s not good then. He stared at me and said I said it’s 21,000. I said yeah it’s suppose to double every 48 hours and my last blood work was 2,300 on Feb 11th. He started doubling in his head and then said I’ll go order an ultrasound. The ultrasound tech came in and was all your numbers are 21,000! I said yep. And that’s not where it should be. None of these people looked at the date of my last hcg to notice that it was weeks ago and should be higher.
Went for the vaginal ultrasound. I measured at 6 weeks 2 days. There is a Fetal pole, and small yolk sac, no heartbeat. The ER dr said that it is possible I’m going to have a miscarriage, but that he just doesn’t know for sure. I will have a repeat ultrasound done in four days on Tuesday.
Has this happened to anyone else and what was the outcome? I am already pretty sure it will end in miscarriage.
