I’m finally getting a chance to share the birth story of my beautiful baby girl.

We scheduled an induction for 39 weeks and 2 days due to my husband needing to be on base for a military drill exercise just a few days after her due date. We wanted to ensure he would get some time with our daughter. My OB felt confident that our baby girl was ready to go, and I was progressing well.

The morning of February 21st, we headed to the hospital for the induction. I was scheduled to be there at 6am. After getting my IV set up, I was told I was 3 cm dilated and 75% effaced. I was also apparently having contractions about 4 minutes apart, but I wasn’t feeling them. The OB came in about an hour later and broke my water.

Contractions started getting more intense and honestly weren’t bad in the beginning. By 10am, the baby had flipped sunny side up and I was having the worst back labor. I was still sitting at 3cm and they had moved me into several different positions to try to get the baby to move.

By 12:30, I broke down and decided to get the epidural so I could try to get some rest. After the epidural, nothing felt better. If anything, it felt worse. After 2 hours of enduring the most excruciating back pain of my life, they decided to try to redo my epidural. 2nd time was the charm and I immediately felt so much better.

By 430, I was 7cm and 100% effaced. At 615, they checked me and I was 10cm! I immediately got super shaky and nervous as they moved me around and got the equipment ready. I had my husband on one side of me and my mom on the other. After an hour and a half of pushing, I gave birth to our beautiful baby girl.

She was 6lbs 10 oz and 19.5 inches long. I had never seen anything more perfect or beautiful.

Fast forward to today, she is 8 days old and is absolutely wonderful. She’s so full of personality and I’m so in love with her.
