When to get obgyn appt?

So I just found out today that I’m pregnant! Yay! But this is my first child so when should I call and make an appointment with a doctor? It says I’m 3 weeks and 5 days pregnant.

Go ahead and call now. You’re so early that they won’t see you yet but you can schedule it now for when you’re around 7-8 weeks. That’s when OBs and midwives usually start seeing patients because by then the heart should be beating and it’s easier to get an estimated due date. Many OBs are popular and their appointments fill quick, so definitely call as soon as you can. Just tell them that you just found out 😊

I would personally wait until you have officially missed your period but in reality, it doesn’t really matter when you call. OB offices have certain regulations for when they will see you which is usually 8-10w. Some might see you sooner and some might see you closer to 12w.

Call and they do their own test to confirm. I went in at 4 weeks 4 days. Did a urine test and then blood work that day and 2 days after. I was also scheduled for an ultrasound 2 weeks later. All doctors are different. Call and tell them you want them to confirm pregnancy for you.
