Mac desktop + Printer

I recently got a Mac and I cannot for the life of me connect my HP printer to it. The printer is old and second hand so I am missing the install instructions so I may just buy another printer in general to make my life easier and just donate the other one.

What printer works best in your opinion? One that’s easy to use with a Mac.
