Neurodiverse people using the R-word?
The previous post (that most likely will be deleted) inspired me for this.
For the purpose of this discussion I will only use the term ”R-word” as to not make anyone uncomfortable.
What is your opinion on neurodiverse people specifically using the R-word to refer to themselves, or in a joking or none hateful way? I haven’t really seen this discussed, and am honestly curious.
When around my close friends I definitely use it to refer to myself, since I have ASD when it's more aparent ill make a joke about it, as well as to cope with it being used as a slur on me.
Pretty much any time a neurotypical person uses it, whether it's meant as a slur or as a joke, it is highly criticized, but I don't see a lot of opinions on neurodiverse people using it. A good friend of mine who also has ASD, and is MTF trans and says its the same thing as her saying the T-word, and that it should be considered fine, but I also know many people strongly feel it should never be said even if the person is neurodiverse. What is your opinion on this?
