When did you have your first apt?

I’m 44 and just found out we’re expecting. 3 weeks 6 days. I called my primary to discuss an upcoming procedure that would need to be postponed and when we were discussing the pregnancy she mentioned that I need to schedule my OB apt now but that I won’t be seen until at least 12 weeks. Is that true? I would have thought it would be sooner, like 6-8 weeks.

It depends on the doctors office. I found out at 3w3d and I called and demanded serial hcg blood tests to confirm viability, and then they had me come in at 6.5 weeks for my dating ultrasound. That was the second doctors office I contacted though. The first office wouldn’t do any blood tests, appts, or ultrasounds til 14 weeks and with a history of 3 miscarriages I wasn’t waiting that long so I called a different practice and got established there.

I think you should change your doctor. I am almost 41 I found out on February 20 at 3 weeks that I am pregnant. My obgyn did blood work and an ultrasound right away. I am going back on March 6th for another ultrasound and blood work.

I called this morning and they said their first apts are at 10 weeks. I'm ok with that since I'm not having any issues. Although this will be my 3rd child, my youngest is 22. The nurse mentioned an early OB class I can attend on Wednesday which is run by nurses. Going to make a list of questions to take with me. Although I'm older I didnt have any issues with my first 2, so I'm going to try not to stress about this one 😊

I didn't find out until I was 7w. Saw dr. At around 9w2days. Then again at 11w.
