Best friend thinks I've been rude

Kendra

Hi Everyone,

I had a very difficult labor that ended in a c-section, where the anesthesia wore off. The fact that I felt the surgery and was in extreme pain has me kind of messed up. It has been a little tough trying to rebound from that, and I needed some time before accepting visitors. I just wasn't ready for friends to visit until 2 weeks after surgery.

My friend messaged me right before two weeks postpartum saying, "I've tried to give you the space you need to adjust to the new baby, but I didn't think I'd have to wait this long to meet her." I was irritated, as she is a nurse and is aware my recovery has been mentally and physically difficult.

I gave her some dates and times--basically any day of the week other than Sunday. My husband works on Sunday and I like to have him home for visitors since we have a hyper dog that can be difficult. She said, "why does your husband need to be home? That's weird," even though I explained it to her. It's not weird to us. She didn't want to come over on Sunday anyway.

Have I been rude to set limitations on friends visiting until I felt a little better?
