How do you cook asparagus??

Question

What does asparagus taste like and how do you cook it? Can you eat it raw like carrots, or does it have to be cooked first?
Ive never had asparagus before in my life. My parents never even bought it when i was living at home.
We always did other veggies tho, like broccoli and cauliflower, carrots and peas, cucumbers and zucchini. We just never had asparagus.

I wouldn’t eat it raw. I like to cook it in the oven with olive oil and spices of your choice for 5-10 mins

I put it in the oven. Cut the ends off (the stalk part) because that part is super tough and gross. Put some aluminum foil with some olive oil, salt and pepper and let it go in the oven. 350 degrees for 15-20 mins or so. I like mine super soft and crispy.

I like it, kinda like I like my fresh green beans. 
Boil some water in a large pot, and let the asparagus cook for three minutes. 
Remove after three minutes and put in ice for about an hour. 
Drain asparagus and pat dry with a paper towel. 
Put some butter in a skillet and let it get hot. Add some fresh diced or chopped garlic. 
Then add your asparagus. Squeeze some fresh lemon over asparagus, and a dash of salt and pepper. 
For a little extra added flavor, you can add some sliced mushrooms and serve with some roasted garlic and herb chicken and Alfredo pasta! Yum!!!!

Asparagus is the best!  You have some great recipes here to choose from (my favorite is roasting with olive oil, salt and pepper).  The most important thing to know though is asparagus WILL make your urine smell weird.  Don’t be alarmed!  😄

Fucking loveeee asparagus. Put some on a baking sheet (with or without tinfoil depending on pan)
But a tiny bit of your choice of olive oil, butter or coconut oil(very small amount!!)
And a bit of balsamic vinigar. It makes it so sweet and yummy

It is delicious raw. I use a peeler to make strips which I add to salads. But otherwise just pan fried or steamed, both delicious too. Just don't overcook it as the texture and flavour does not turn out well! Great with parmesan, lemon, chilli etc.

You can do anything with asparagus, steam it, bake it, fry it, etc. There is no wrong way. Personally I just made a dish involving garlic oil, bacon, diced potato, and green and purple onion. I fried them for about 10-15 minutes and it was absolutely amazing.

My favorite is baking it in the oven with olive oil and the once tender to squeeze fresh lemon juice and parm. Cheese also don’t forget to cut the hard ends off by an inch
