What to expect when getting induced.

Question

I'm a ftm I'm at 39w 3d and have been 1 cm and 50% effaced for 3 weeks now. Dr suggested getting induced since I'm just not making any progress with all the walking and  squats I've been doing. So my husband and I decide to go ahead with getting induced. The dr walked through the process of it and I'm a little scared. So please share some of you guys experiences of getting induced.

So I was induced at 39 weeks, induction went very well. Started Pitocin at 10:30 AM, contraction still weren't getting strong so dr. told me it was time for an epidural if I wanted it. I decided to get an epidural then the doctor broke my water. Contractions never did get stronger painful, within four I went from a 5 cm to 10 cm and fully effaced deliver the baby at 7:20 no problems or complications. I hope this eases your mind some congratulations

I am currently in the induction process at exactly 40 weeks due to pre-eclampsia. Got cervadil to soften the cervix around 5:00 am, then if I'm dilated more at 5:00 pm, they'll start pitocin. Having some contractions already but nothing too painful. Will update if I can! Already been at the hospital for 24 hours at this point (and its 10:00 am), so really hoping for progress!

Just so you know, you don't have to be induced. It is your choice!! With my first (I'm on #4 now!), I was 1cm for 4 weeks with 'no progress.' My doc wanted to induce me at 39 weeks. I declined because it didn't feel right to me. She tried again at 40 weeks which I declined again. My water broke and I went into labor on my own at 40+1, and had no problem progressing from a 1 to 10cm over the course of the day.

My induction had not exactly gone as planned--I was induced at 39w5d--it started off with cervadil overnight--I didn't feel any of the contractions I was having even though they were about 2-3 minutes apart. I had been having really bad contractions for a couple of weeks up till that point, but for some reason hadn't felt any of these ones. (also, the overnight was spent in the hospital) In the middle of the night, like, 1 in the morning, I had 5 or 6 nurses rush in all at once and start flipping me over and doing something with my iv and putting an oxygen mask on me--they were freaking out because my baby wasn't handling my contractions well at all--his heart was "decelerating" whenever I had one, so they called the doctor and he said to take out the cervadil (a vaginal insert) and see what happened. I didn't stop having contractions, so they gave me a shot of I don't remember what to stop them (I was supposed to be getting pitocin in the morning, but we didn't make it to this step)--they didn't stop after the shot either, and baby didn't stop with the decelerations either. So I was prepped for a C-section. By the time they decided to do the c-section to holding my baby for the first time was less than an hour. To be honest, I didn't think it would be such a short time--the only part of the process that hurt (besides recovery and so many ppl sticking their fingers up my vagina) was the numbing shot for the spinal--it stung really bad and I wasn't expecting it to hurt that much. It wasn't an emergency c-section either because I had been going in for an induction, which I'm sure made it a much smoother time.
