Milk Transfer Issues
I’m posting on here because I am desperate. Both my nipples are inverted and I was given a nipple shield at the hospital because we had trouble latching. My son quickly lost a lot of weight. After a week we began supplementing with formula and pumped milk and feeding through an sns. We thought maybe he had a tongue tie but he was finally checked after a month and he does not. In fact the dr said he has exceptional tongue movement. Recently I tried using a larger nipple shield hoping that would work but it did not. I also tried latching him on without a nipple shield and with the help of my lactation consultant we got him latched on but even after nursing for a while he only transferred 7 ml. I have milk as I can pump 2-3 oz after I feeding through the sns. I am working on building my supply but that’s not going great either. I eat out meal every morning, 2 bags of lactation cookies, Gatorade and tons of water. I tried fenugreek but I went down to pumping only .5-1.5 oz so I quit that and now I am taking mother love milk plus. I am at a loss on what to do and about to give up. Does anyone have any suggestions?
P.s. Thank you for taking the time to read my very long post.
