Tummy Time Guilt

I feel kind of bad that I don't get to do tummy time with my little one as often as I should. I work a ton from home and so does her dad. We rotate who watches her so she doesn't go to daycare. Every now and then we'll get in tummy time, but not as much as we should. Are any other moms slacking on the tummy time? How does baby appear to be doing without it?

My daughter hates tummy time so much - she will scream and cry the second I put her down on her tummy no matter what we do. My pediatrician said having her on our chest is just as good and she loves that - so we do that for half hour after every feed and she’s able to push off her arms and balance her head. She also loves her sit me up seat which has helped her neck muscles tremendously too. We’re all just doing the best we can!

My little girl hates tummy time too, but she'll sit in her chair and talk about any and everything! We use the Fisher Price one. Is that the one you use?

Keep in mind that tummy time doesn't necessarily mean baby has to be on their tummy. Any time spent off their head counts. Holding baby upright, laying on your chest, using a baby carrier... it's all good. My baby probably only gets 10 or 15 minutes of true tummy time split up throughout the day, but she spends most of her awake time off of her head unless she's eating or being changed. Anytime I'm holding her while she's awake, I try to hold her over my shoulder or on my hip so that she's working her muscles and holding her head up on her own. Most of our playtime is just me sitting her up on my lap and talking, singing, and making faces. She gets to work on her neck muscles and we get good face time all at once.Your work schedules definitely sound like a challenge, but hopefully your LO is getting more tummy time than you think!

I’d highly encourage you to do it more, even if it means you have to set an alarm on your phone or a reminder. It’s really important for muscular development, as well as brain development! My little one has a side preference for her head and I *knew* i should have been better about rotating her position frequently but I slacked and now we are getting a pt assessment and trust me if you need to hire a pt it will take more time out of your day than tummy time does. Do the tummy time 💪

I am guilty, my LO hates it so much! she screams and crys the whole time, I end up doing it once a day. She tolerates it some if I put a rolled towelI under her arms. let her lay on my chest, she pushes up and raises her head, so she is getting stronger. I don't want to set her back but it's so pitiful, and she gets so sad.

My baby is held almost the entire day by someone but doesn’t get much “real” tummy time. She doesn’t like it much and her grandparents don’t put her on her stomach generally. I’m not too concerned about it. Never heard of someone but learning how to flip over due to lack of tummy time as an infant.

Try to set a routine to do it for a few minutes after every diaper change. That will add up to quite a bit of time and it’s an easy way to work it in 😊

I never did tummy time with my 2nd kid and he was walking by 8 months old,y 3rd we've been doing it alone but it's because she has a flat spot on her head. She's been holding her head up since birth though.
