Drive your kid to school, or ride the bus?

Just wondering.  I always rode the bus as a kid.

My kids walk, we can see the schools from our porch. If it’s raining I drive them. When I was a kid I rode the bus.

My step kids ride the bus, well they used to. My step daughter is driving now so she drives herself. It would take me literally 45 minutes round trip to drive them to school. I have to work and that’s not a productive use of my time when the bus is available. I always rode the bus as a kid and my mom was a SAHM, it’s not practical to drive your kids if the bus is an option. I understand not everywhere has a good bus route though.

It depends. Where I’m at the bus isn’t even an option for kids depending on where they are in relation to the school. And, I went to a school that didn’t have school buses. I’m not letting my kid walk if it’s so far. My husband walked to school as it wasn’t that far but now you can’t trust people and I’m not running the risk of my littles getting taken.

I've always taken the bus (not school bus, just public transport). I'm glad I did because nowadays I'm very confident in taking public transport anywhere. My campus is two hours away and the hospitals I go for my internship are spread all over the city (which is bigger than some European countries lol) and I do it all by bus or subway. Even if I've never been to a place before I can easily find my way. 
Helicoptering your children around all the time may not be very good for them in the future.

I drive my kids to school. they've rode the bus before but we live in a small town so where we live there's 1 bus that has to do an extra route to grab the kids on our road. whichever bus gets to the school first drops their kids off when the doors open at 815 then they come to our road which is only about 5-6 min from the school, grabs the kids on our road & they get dropped off at like 830-840 & the tardy bell rings at 830 (which they don't get marked tardy since it's the bus route) but I figured why make them late to school by riding the bus when I can drive the 5 minutes to the school & then they don't feel rushed or late. we're also in the process of trying to buy a house so we will have to do open enrollment anyways so driving is just easier for us.

Well when the time comes If there is a school bus my son can take than that will be happening, if not than I'll drive him. I'm not comfortable with him going on a public bus to school.

Mostly bus, but when it’s raining, extra cold (Michigan here) or if they have something they’re carrying I drive them. 
It’s not far, and I don’t have a set time to be at work, it’s just an independence thing. They get themselves up, ready, and out to the bus solo.

I would have them ride the bus. It's better for the environment and not only that but elementary school doesn't start till 9am and I work at 7 so they would use to go to school at like 6am and that's not an option

My kids are not school age yet but I plan on driving them. Our buses go by our house an hour before school starts. It’s already a long day for little kids. No need make the day longer when we live 5 minutes from the school.
