I have blue cross blue shield blue advantage. I live in Illinois which mandates infertility coverage. We are doing IVF with ICSI and everything is covered by insurance besides freezing and testing of embryos. We are very blessed because idk if we could make it happen otherwise. The insurance has a lot of rules but the clinic handles all of that stuff.

I used it in Massachusetts and nearly everything is covered as a result of state mandate, my specific policy, and my infertility diagnosis. I just had to pay co-pays for meds and office visits (and feel very, very fortunate).

I have blue cross of Texas and they wouldn’t cover we any fertility treatment. They covered diagnostics but we paid out of pocket for the IuI.

Is TX a mandated state to provide infertility coverage?

Every employer selects a differnt plan, I have bcbs, horizon direct access and have only paid for copays and shipping on my meds - and pgs. If you live in a mandate state your employer has to select a plan that has fertility coverage. It’s prob the most expensive one, so off the bat some people don’t pick it. You can always switch during open enrollement.

Your policy determines your coverage! I work for Bcbs and my RE said he never seen any of his patients have this type of policy.
