My whirlwind c section story

Jessie

On April 16-2018 I had a healthy baby boy weighing in at 6 lbs 12.5 oz. This was my first c section and although the beginning went smooth the rest of it was horrible! I went in for a planned c section at 6 am..got my gown on and IV started and doctors came in and talked to me etc to tell me how it was going to go. Then at about 7:45ish I was taken back to the operating room and got my spinal block while my husband waited outside in the hallway..I was laid down on the table arms strapped and they were given me some extra oxygen and monitoring me..I honestly didn't feel a thing and it was surprisingly fast and painless minus the spinal block. My son was born at 8:10am. I was wheeled to recovery where I stayed for an hour or so and wasn't in much pain. The next day however things took a turn for the worse. The doctor and nurses came in and and said my blood levels were way low at like 4 and should be at a 7. I was very disoriented, pale and very sick looking. He demanded a blood transfusion and in mean time they couldn't figure out how I lost so much blood considering during surgery they wrote down I lost the normal amount I think like 500 or something. After two liters of blood I felt much better but had major bags under my eyes still and still looked very pale and sick for the remainder of the day. Come to find out on top of everything else I ended up getting a hematoma. So on top of the recovery for my first c section now I was recovering from a hematoma. I was beyond sore was on a morphine pump but had to tell my husband to tell them to take me off it and switch to pain medication orally cause I couldn't even hold my son without dozing off. My stomach felt like it was dragging the floor when I walked and for about the whole 6 weeks I had severe swelling in my feet and legs bad and had to sleep in a chair cause I couldn't lay down what so ever. I was very swollen in my belly and severely bruised from the hematoma more so than the c section. I am now ttc again and will have another c section and hopefully I have better luck. On the bright side my son is perfect and the actual c section wasn't bad just the aftermath. Hopefully the next one will be smooth. I am just happy he was good and healthy and am willing to do it all over again to get another precious baby like this one 😀😍
