Anyone go into room with hubby to get sperm sample?

My hubs is having a pretty hard time about having to produce his sample at the hospital on the day of our egg retrieval. For our previous IUI’s we were able to do it at home. But this will be at least 40 mins from our house. 
My question is, is it wicked weird to go into the collection room with your partner?? He said that it would be a lot easier for him. He’s even had nightmares about this - ahhhh please someone tell me this is a common request!

It wasn’t an option for me as he had to give his sample while I was being prepped and transported from our room to the retrieval room.  That could just be how my office times things but basically we were both doing our part at similar times.

It wasn’t an option for us. I was set up and almost put out for my retrieval when he had to do his part. They allowed him to be there while the anesthesiologists was setting me up but once I was almost asleep and propped in the right position they had him in the room and filling out paper work. I was worried about him being able to produce, but he just used his “phone” for help and we took 3 days off before having to give the sample so it was as fresh as possible. He did fine and had know issue. But I was stressed thinking he was stressed. Good luck!

Husband gave his whole they were prepping me, and they had porn in the room (he sent me a pic so we could laugh about it)

. But we were also told her could bring his sample as long as it was under 2 hours.

My experience was the same as the other girls but maybe you can ask in advance and just arrive earlier than normal so everything for you is still on schedule?  Good luck!

It was an option for us if needed after the ER. But it didn’t end up being necessary.

Ask your doctor whether there is an option for him to give a sample in advance and have it frozen in case he has performance anxiety the day of the egg retrieval. I think knowing he has a backup plan will make him less nervous. And if he can’t perform the day of, they can use his frozen sample to fertilize your eggs.

I was still in recovery, completely out of it & still hooked up to an IV when my husband when to give his sample. I would definitely discuss this with the dr.’s office for an alternative option before the day of the retrieval. This cannot be the first time this has happened & they may be able to accommodate you. I would definitely give them a call.

Nope, they will have you getting ready in a separate area... changed and relaxing with warm blankets.
