Who can educate about makeup?

Hi guys! 
I’m older, my skin has changed tremendously and feel like I need to learn other techniques to better apply my makeup. My foundation looks like a hot mess after I’ve applied it.. I’ve YouTubed, etc but I really wish I could just sit with a professional so they can teach me. I’ve tried the girls at Sephora and Macy’s many times but honestly I haven’t had much luck..
Any advice? I feel like I should just hire a makeup artist but that kinda sounds expensive..

I think it all depends on skin and your skin type. I don’t wear foundation bc it all looks valley. It doesn’t matter what I wear high end or cheap drug store brands it all looks gross. I found that a little concealer works well for me. I’ll put it on my problem areas and blend it well. And then I do my normal blush and sometimes  bronzer. This personally looks the most natural and best on me. I have trouble combination skin though. It’s oily and dry so that may effect the my foundation options.
