need advice

ok so me and my boyfriend want to get married we been together for 5 years and this is something he ask to do I agreed because I love him and dont want to be with anyone else .. our plan was to go get our marriage license and have the ceremony just between us two because we just want it private and no wedding just us two .. is it bad to do things that way ? we dont want an wedding with friends and family but we will have a get together wit our family after me and him finish the ceremony on our own
