Napping in crib

Olivia

So we haven’t transitioned my daughter to her crib in her room yet, was gonna do that around 6 months. But I was kinda thinking about trying to get her to nap in there...so you think that would mess her up...good idea or bad idea? Right now she naps in her rock n play usually in my room...but it’s so bright in there I think she has trouble falling asleep and staying alseep because it’s so bright. Her room would be slightly darker and I could pull her curtains over so it would make it a little darker (I don’t have curtains in my room) the only thing I worry about is that she usually can fall asleep on her own with her binky but when she’s laying flat and it falls out she can’t get it back in that’s why in the rock in play it’s better for that because it doesn’t fall out as easy. I could try to lay her down without the binky but here lately she’s been really attached to it for going to sleep (that’s the only time she will use it) I think right now at this age it’s ok for her to use it to help her fall asleep. I just don’t know if moving her into her crib for nap time would be a good idea or not since she just now got to the point where she will pretty much fall asleep on her own in the rock n play (I use to have to rock and rock and rock her)

Definitely start doing that so she can get used to her room. That will help when you’re ready to transition her

I would start doing that for sure. It helps them transition into it full time a lot better since they are comfortable in there. We started doing that months ago and use his house machine. I do have to go in and rock him or pat him sometimes but it made the transition pretty much seamless. He now sleeps in there all night and sleeps BETTER than when he was in our room in a bassinet. The trick is the lay them down slightly awake so they don’t get freaked out when they naturally wake up throughout the night.

It's going to be a transition period, that's for sure. You may have to go in a few times to put the pacifier back in but she'll get the hang of it. We're starting to transition our girl into the crib during nap time as well. With our son we did the same thing. We started with naps in his crib then slowly started bedtime in his crib. My son didn't take a pacifier after 2 months. So we didn't have any issue with it falling out. Little girl does take one and I just go in and put her pacifier in. The second time it fell out she was already sleeping.

Our girl was the same way. Not a good napper and up until 12 weeks only took naps on me. Then started naps in the rock n play. I tried doing a nap a day in the crib and it was usually a disaster. But as she got older she got better. Just start with one nap a day -morning nap is my recommendation. Slowly but surely it will get better. She sleeps in her crib in the doc a tot now -both at night and during naps. That has been what helped us transition from rock n play to crib and I haven’t weened her off it yet. Lol plan to tackle that one a little later.

I feel like she will do just fine once we move her to her crib for bedtime but it’s the naps that a a different story. She use to never take naps besides in my arms, then we moved to the rock n play (and basically had to be rocked the whole time) now we are still in the rock n play but need very little rocking but needs binky...

I just transitions my 4.5 month old into her own room (crib) last weekend. I started putting her down for naps every single time for about a month straight and then we would spend more time in there while she’s awake.. getting her used to the room so she felt comfortable in it. She now sleeps in her room all night and wakes once or twice a night but she puts herself back to sleep. It will definitely take some time just be patient 😅
