What is your birthing story?

Hi there ladies! I am currently 36 weeks and 6 days. Very interested in hearing how your births went! How far along were you when you delivered? FTM here 😊

On July 15th I started noticing that I was getting severe headaches.. it just started out of nowhere. Then the same day I noticed my stomach would get hard like hard as a rock. I wasn’t due until August 15th. I wasn’t planning on going to the ER because I wasn’t feeling any pain but I decided to go anyway.. I had someone drop me off...
A few hours after being on the monitor my blood pressure was 149/130... it would go up and up and down. They decided they wanted to keep me and come to find out I was 1cm dilated. I was only 35 weeks. I started panicking which made my blood pressure go up even more.
 
After being admitted they did a 24 hour protein test which showed I had preeclampsia. I was immediately induced. I was induced at 12noon on July 16th and they inserted a balloon into my vagina that would help me dilate to 5cm. Once I got to 5cm they took the balloon out which was around 7pm that night. I said I didn’t want an epidural but I have a heart problem and my doctor thought it would be better to not stress during childbirth. 
Around 5am on July 17th my contractions were HORRIBLE I was only 7cm and I told them I wanted the epidural. I got the epidural it helped with the contractions for a little while. I started to slowly dilate. I wasn’t expecting to go into labor so I told my kid’s dad to go home and get everything set up my mom, my aunt and cousins were helping set everything up for when the baby comes home. I was so thankful for that 
Around 5pm I was 9cm. My family just left 30 minutes before the doctor came in and checked me.. they were rushing to get bad but by that time I started having horrible contractions. MY EPIDURAL COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING! I kept telling the doctors I feel my contractions and they kept asking if I was sure it wasn’t pressure. I told “No I feel everything” eventually everyone arrived back at the hospital and my OB came and since he would be premature they brought in the NICU nurses and had “special doctors” (is what they called them) there in case of something going wrong. I started pushing at 7pm but his heart rate kept dropping. One of the NICU specialist reached into my vagina and put a heart monitor on the baby’s head. They gave me oxygen because his o2 was dropping also. 
While I was pushing I kept getting restless and kinda passing out and losing consciousness.. his head got stuck in the birth canal but I’m glad my family was there I kept yelling “I can’t” and my aunt pushed me up and he was finally here!

4lbs 14oz 19in long!

He was in the NICU for a day (I think he could’ve stayed longer)
He stayed in the hospital an extra day..
At his two day check up. His body temp dropped and he was unconscious.. they admitted him admitted again. He was severe jaundice and his body temp was 94 degrees..

After that he’s been great! Until he was 7 months and he completely stopped breathing they told me he was dying from SIDS.. I tried everything to wake him up... he was blue and cold. I threw him over my shoulders with a blanket to my neighbors house and he took a deep breath in! I was relieved and he was looking at me like “mommy what’s wrong”

They monitored him for 24 hours and everything came back normal so they sent us home... now he’s a VERY ACTIVE 1 yr old... 
His pediatrician says that he may need therapy for his speech and he’s behind with his fine motor skills and speech but they’re sure he’s gonna be just fine

I got s membrane sweep done when I was 39 weeks and that’s what sent me into labor. Other than having a terrible experience with the nurses getting an iv in me and then the anesthesiologist getting my epidural in my labor was very smooth! I was in labor for about 13 hours from start to finish. I only had to push for 15 minutes before I delivered my son and he was absolutely perfect! We are trying for number two now but I will for sure do it next time without an epidural lol. Here’s my little man whenever he was first born!

There’s a birth story group on here! My first birth was at home, baby arrived on her due date, super long but was an amazing experience. My advice to you is to steer clear of birth stories that will bring up fear or worry.
