Tampons

I'm 25 and have always used pads but due to the nasty Texas heat I decided to give tampons a try. I bought the tampax Pearl regular. I can feel it is that normal? Also the stick part is little so I feel like it's not long enough and noting far enough it I don't think I can push it in any further. Also do Yall cramp with them in? I took it out to shower and the cramps stopped then I inserted another and they came back.
