Can you say "I love you" too much?

Question

A friend of mine was going on about how she and her boyfriend dont need to say they love each other often. Said something along the lines of "We dont have to say it constantly. We KNOW we love each other. Why cheapen it by saying you love each other all of the time?" I didnt think much of it. To each their own. But then she pointed out how my wife and I saw it a lot. Her tone was dripping in 'eye roll'. Admittedly, I tell my wife that I love her a lot. A lot, a lot. Like, at least 10 times a day.  I just like doing it. I enjoy loving her and I enjoy saying it. But does that really cheapen it?

I feel like it is never 'cheapened' as long as you are saying it consciously because you mean it and not just out of habit.

I don’t think it does. It almost sounds me like she’s trying to push an attitude of “my relationship is better”. Maybe she’s really just insecure about her relationship?

To each their own. We overuse it too probably. It's become habit for us just to say it or randomly text each other it.

My husband and I tell each other we love each other at least two, three times a day. And we've been together for a long time. It's a nice affirmation for us.

I think it depends on the person really. For me personally, I get annoyed sometimes with my husband because he will say it once and then again 5 minutes later and then again 15 minutes after that. I get what your friend is saying though. I like to show my love more than to say it. To me it's just words. I know I sound like a terrible person.

I was raised in a family where "I love you" was said frequently. My parents said it to each other, they said it to the kids and the kids said it to them. 
I am raising my family the same way. My husband and I say I love you several times a day because we want to communicate the way we feel about one another. We say it to our daughter and soon to arrive son, so that they remain secure in our love for them. 
My now sister-in-law was raised in a family that never said it. Around the holidays she always comments that she loves how open our family is in saying "I love you" to one another.

It’s just one of those things that can get annoying to other people that hear you, kinda like the people who say “babe” or “baby” and the end of almost every sentence lol it just makes you roll your eyes but it’s not that serious

don’t compare your relationships. what works for one doesn’t always work for the other! my husband and i day i love you multiple times a day there’s nothing wrong with it and definitely doesn’t cheapen it.
