Traumatic experience after birth
We welcomed baby Mya on Monday February 25, 2019. I haven’t had a chance to write our story.
On the Saturday following I had a very scary experience. At 10 am I went to the bathroom and my hands started tingling and felt like I was losing circulation. They got red and started swelling.
I could then feel the swelling start to spread to my face and mouth.
I yelled for my husband and mother who was there to help with the baby. They looked at me and saw my face swelling and ran for some benedryl.
I felt my tongue swelling and I quickly took two benedryl and my husband crushed two more and had me rake them.
He rushed me to the truck and my vision started to go white. Luckily the benedryl kicked in on the way to the hospital and stopped my throat from closing.
They calmed the reaction at the hospital. But we still aren’t sure what caused. I now have an epi pen and a referral to an allergist.
I now have intense anxiety and panic at the thought of being alone in the house with my baby in case it happens again. My husband left for five minutes yesterday and I had to talk on the phone to my mom the whole time.
I’m hoping when I find out the cause my confidence will come back. Unfortunately that won’t be for several months. I’m glad I have my beautiful girl though.
