Adventures of yesterday. I woke up around six to use the bathroom and my water broke. I went back to bed and notified my doctor who told me to come in. We checked into the hospital at 10:03 am and got situated. I was dilated only 1cm but in active labor. I spent the next 5 hours walking the halls as my contractions got more and more intense and closer together. So much pain!! I was hoping and praying I had dilated. My contractions were a minute long and a minute and forty-five seconds apart. The nurse checked my cervix and I almost cried. I was still only 1 cm ! And the pain was INTENSE. My body was telling me to push. But I wasn’t far enough along. I requested an epidural, and after another 2.5 hours of walking and contracting, I finally hit the 2cms mark, and they gave me my epidural. This was around 6pm. I was numbed and could still fell the pressure of the contractions but no pain. I visited with family and even dozed a bit. At exactly 9pm the nurse came in to check my cervix. She checked it, looked confused and left the room, soon returning with another nurse who also checked my cervix. They spoke quietly for a minute then both turned to me and told me I was 10 cms and ready to start pushing. They notified my doctor, propped me up and coached me through the first push. With my first push, baby’s head came out. They had me stall through the next three contractions till my doctor arrived. While waiting I was able to reach around and feel my baby’s head. Once Dr arrived, it took only three more pushes to deliver my handsome little man. Perfect in every way. Born at 9:37 pm, weighing in at 7 lbs and 10 oz and measuring 20.5 inches long. He looks 95% cockrum with his mamas nose. 💙
