Myself and my partner have been together nearly 4 years. We got pregnant with our first very early on (only together 3 months) and decided to make a go of it. I sold my apartment and we moved into a rented property. 3 years later I’ve said I’d like for us to get a mortgage and move forward and try for another baby.

He said he wants to ttc but said we can’t afford to move out.

He owns his own business and says he isn’t earning enough money. However, he spends £10 a day on cigarettes and at least £5 a day on alcohol. He said he thinks he’s depressed but won’t seek any help.

He says if we get a mortgage and can’t afford the repayments our house will get repossessed. I said well if we are that skint we can’t afford the rent either ...

We live in one of his moms houses and his repose was well I’ll tell my mom I’ll have to pay her next month.

I think I know the answer and what I need to do but I’m wondering what other people’s opinions are please?
