I posted about my sons birth and his trip to the nicu a few days ago. We went up to see him yesterday and my in-laws are starting to make me angry. So we already have an almost 3 year old who normally has no problem with us dropping him off with family while we either work or have a rare date night. Our second son was born 6 days ago, so our older son was with my sister Tuesday, Wednesday and early Thursday. Later Thursday he was with my sil while my husband went to the bigger hospital with the nicu and our baby. Then Friday after I was discharged from the smaller hospital we took big brother to my sil again as we went to spend time with baby. Saturday big brother was with my other sil. Sunday big brother got to stay home for the first time in almost a week with mommy and daddy. Then yesterday we took him to my aunts house which is his usual daycare. Each time we dropped him off he became more upset, so my husband and I figured we can take a day or two to spend with big brother as baby has improved significantly. Well when sil 1, sil 2, and mil found out we weren’t going up for a day or two they flipped out! This hospital is an hour away, I’m not allowed to drive yet, and my husband doesn’t get any type of paternity leave, and hasn’t been working at this job long enough to get fmla. He also has severe back pain and can only handle so much driving. The in laws keep saying we need to apply to stay at Ronald McDonald House and they should have a daycare for our older son who is having issues with us leaving him with people he knows (he has never been watched by strangers) I get where they are coming from but baby is doing great and we all need a break and our older son needs mommy and daddy too. I have tried to explain to them why we are doing it the way we are but they just keep going on and on making me feel like I’m a terrible mom. And making me feel like I have to choose one child over the other.
