What do you guys think about social networks saving, sharing and selling your personal data?

I'm just curious what y'all think about companies learning personal information about yourself, that they then can use to share with other companies, sell to other companies and ultimately give up all of your personal information to anyone with enough money that wants it.

It's literally there in the terms of service agreed to when you sign up. No one bothers to read. Facebook is just all around crap though. They censor anyone they disagree with, they sold info even before they changed their tos, they'll ban you for sharing a meme poking fun at a politician, but won't shut down the page glorifying pedophilia. Fuck them. There are alternatives now.

It’s pretty obvious that nothing stays private and policies change. Makes me think what this app does/will do with all my “valuable” data.

I honestly don’t mind. I’ve bought some awesome stuff off of Facebook ads. The only thing I HATE is that I constantly get adds for pregnancy and baby stuff because my phone knows I’m TTC. Having that in my face all the time gets old. I’ve got nothing to hide though.

I mean, I think it’s terrible. But it’s always made clear when you make a profile that they’re going to do that. But no one actually reads the fine print. You’re putting yourself out there publicly, on the internet. It’s not uncommon for your info to be taken and sold.
