Is blood work necessary early on?

I’m 4 weeks... set up my ultrasound and check up for 8 weeks. Do I need to go in now for blood work or is waiting for my 8 week appointment ok? They didn’t offer it to me and now I see that some people are getting blood work this far along. I’m a first time mom 😬

I've had a pretty simple pregnancy last time so I've never had blood work. I believe it is done more often in those with difficulty getting or staying pregnant. 
There isn't much to see prior to 8 weeks in US anyways. You would likely see a sack, but that little baby is so teeny tiny right now. 
It is all okay. Just focus on being healthy and taking those vitamins.

I’ve had two pregnancies and didn’t have any blood checks done.  
But this pregnancy I have been having regular blood checks as I’ve been spotting.  Looking like a impending miscarriage though.

From what I've seen, including myself, its mostly the women with multiple losses or going through  IVF n stuff.

This is my 5th pregnancy and I’ve only had hcg levels checked when I was miscarrying, never in my healthy pregnancies.

I’m only being seen so early because I’ve got an RE since my mc in Oct so she’ll do early bloodwork and ultrasounds to try and catch any preventable issues. Previously I wasn’t see until 6-7 weeks and they didn’t test my hormone levels.

My doc doesn't bother with the blood hcg levels and goes straight to ultrasound at I weeks. Perfectly normal to not do blood hcg levels.

The only reason I got blood work is early is I started bleeding and they wanted to make sure my bean was growing!
