Anyone else?

7 days postpartum and my feet are horribly swollen. They weren't swollen until the day after we got home from the hospital and nothing seems to make it better. Anyone have any solutions to get the swelling to go down? The doctor said it might take another week before it starts going down, but I'm really tired of wearing house shoes because nothing else fits.

I had swelling up to a week postpartum and then one night it disappeared all at once! Yours will do, elevation might help but your body will absorb it all eventually.

Mine went away at 7-8 days.  I never really swelled during any of my pregnancies but it always happens that 1st week after.  Keep your feet up.  (You deserve to, anyway!)

I ended up going to the ER last Friday because I was having shortness of breath for 2 days. After running all kids of tests and doing an xray and a CT, the CT showed I had fluid around my lungs, from all the extra fluid during the delivery, so they put me on a diuretic for 20 days. After 2 days of being on that, I quit having shortness of breath and I have my non fat girl feet again, even though I'm a fat girl. :)

It took almost two weeks for my feet to go back to normal size. And I never had any swelling during pregnancy. I had an epidural and fluids for ~12hrs for a vaginal birth. I think it was the fluids and then being in bed for ~36hrs until discharge. It sounds counterintuitive but really do drink plenty of water and if you feel up to it go for short walks to help move the fluid out of your feet. Elevate them when you can. And get a foot massage!

Mine didn't go down for about 2 weeks after I had my baby. But I also had horrible swelling near the end of my pregnancy anyways so I was used to it. I had pressure cuffs on in the hospital because they were so bad. Thankfully I'm all back to normal now.

Did you have a c-section or vaginal birth? I had a c-section and had horrible foot swelling just like that for almost 2 weeks. They said its normal and it's the IV fluids you got in hospital plus blood from the uterus if you had a section. It'll get better with time. I didn't find that elevating helped at all for some reason

Massive lots of water, compression socks, and if walking is painful (I.e. For those of us who had a csection) then elevate and move your feet around constantly while sitting. Like up and down and side to side at the ankle. Working the calf muscle so that it helps blood circulate the fluid.

Lots of water and walking. I had to wear my husbands flip flops to do the walking part! Mine was officially gone at about 2w pp.

I had that after my delivery also and I kept feet elevated for about a week, drank tons of fluids and would soak them in hot water Epsom salt bath. That worked very well!!
