IUD or arm implant?

Question

Hey guys so I’m set to get on a new birth control next week but I’m still comparing the IUD and arm implant. What are your experiences if you have any with either? Side effects, pain, etc. I’ve been hearing the IUD is good but I’ve also heard horror stories but that’s with any birth control i suppose 😭. I’ve tried the patch, the pills, and depo already so those aren’t an option for me.

I'm 23, never pregnant, used to have really heavy periods. I got the Skyla IUD last February 2018 and have loved it. I haven't had any problems. My cramps are at a minimum and I spot/light flow during my periods. I would recommend having someone take you to the appointment to get it placed because it is a little painful, feels like intense cramping, when they're placing it. But it takes 5 minutes and the cramping didn't last for me. However about 15 minutes later, I personally experienced a cold rush that made me feel like I could've passed out, but I didn't and that feeling subsided after about 5 minutes. I didn't get the long irregular pain or spotting like they say can happen as your body adjusts, so I definitely recommend the IUD. Although, if you're sexually active, depending on who you're having sex with, they may feel the string at first before it softens and moves out if the way. 
My sister had the nexplanon for a while, but she was like a month late getting it replaced and now I'm an auntie! 😅 But she said she liked it while she had it. I personally didn't like the idea of having a rod in my arm that I could feel, so that's why I went with the IUD. I don't feel it, just check for the string every so often and I'm good. 😉 But talk about it with you doctor, they should break down the pros and cons of both and help you decide which may be better for you.
