Is this rude??

So I have been purchasing baby clothes for my future child for almost two years now. Before my fiance and I even started trying to have a baby I was buying clothes here and there. I just couldn't help but to get so excited!
It's now to the point where I am more than comfortable with amount of clothes I have gotten for my baby boy, and honestly do not need any more. Is it rude to ask people who come to my shower to not purchase any clothes as gifts? I really don't need any other clothes for him (from NB-2T) and would much rather recieve other baby supplies as gifts. I just don't want to come off as rude to my coworkers and friends. :/ Advice?

Personally I do think it’s rude to dictate what somebody can give you as a gift. Say thank you to the clothes and you receive and be grateful they wanted to spoil your baby. Many times you’ll get gift receipts and you can return (or regift) certain items.

Definitely not rude to let people know you have lots of clothes already! You’ll just want to word it really carefully. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with saying “we have tons of clothes, but would really appreciate diapers and wipes” or whatever it is that you need still. 
On the flip side I just got invited to a baby shower where the mama to be sent out a message saying “don’t buy me the things on this list. I only need the things on this other list” and her needs list was limited to fairly high value items. It left a bad taste in my mouth. It’s one thing to let people know what it is that you need still but you don’t want to sound like you’re dictating what people have to get you as a gift.

I totally understand the feeling as I have very specific likes and HATES when it comes to kid clothing, but It can come off as greedy and tacky depending on how you word it. Honestly, when I hear people saying how annoyed they are that they got a certain gift over another, it makes them sound entitled. Just remember, NO ONE is obligated to give you a gift, they are doing it because they are generous. Whether you write it or not, people are likely still going to buy you clothes because it’s fun for them and then they get to see the baby wear something they gifted. Would you rather your friends and family have fun at your shower, or buy you specific gifts?

I thought the registry without any clothes would eliminate people buying clothes for my first baby (we had more than enough too), but nope. I got almost all clothes and hardly anything from my registry. We ended up still having to spend a boatload of cash on almost everything in our registry. 😭 id find a polite way to mention it or include it on your invitation.

I don’t think it’s rude, in my opinion I rather spend my money on things the mama will actually need/use for the baby. My sister gave me a TON a hand-me-downs, and I put on my baby shower invitations that if they REALLY want to buy clothes just to size up🤷🏻‍♀️... I rather their money be spent well, than wasted.

Maybe you could try posting something along the lines of a pile/closet/dresser full of baby clothes with a caption saying something along the lines of “won’t be needing anymore of these anytime soon 🤦🏻‍♀️” 
As like a goofy, subtle way to say “don’t buy me anymore clothes please”

I don’t think it’s rude. I think people would appreciate knowing they are going to buy you something you are actually going to use.
