Living in an apartment with a baby?

Question

Good morning everyone! I’m 16 weeks tomorrow, and my husband and I are concerned with the thin walls and having a baby.
We live in a second floor apartment, and we can hear everything that goes on, so we know they can hear us too.
I’m starting to get anxious about the baby crying and waking people up/upsetting them/making dogs bark.
Our lease isn’t up until the baby is two months.
Any advice?

I lived in an apartment with my son from birth to 1yr. My baby crying or bothering others wasn't even on my radar. He's a human and he cries, it's not like y'all are up partying drinking, or a dog barking.

You live in an apartment, so do your neighbors. Everyone knows what the signed up for. That’s part of the reason rent is cheaper for an apartment. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I wouldn’t worry about it. When you live in an apartment you have to expect you will hear your neighbors. I’ve lived in plenty of apartments when my kids were little. It’s actually a little harder when they begin running around and people under you don’t want to hear that, but I never had an issue with my crying babies.

People have babies in apartments all of the time. Including myself. It’s not that big of a deal. :)

You should not stress about it, because you and your baby have rights to live there. 
We live in 1bedroom apartment at 3rd floor of five and honestly I was more worried about neighbours being loud, having parties and stressing my baby. 
I do have a neighbour that lives in 2nd floor and is listening to club music in evenings. If that is bothering me, I can go and tell to turn music down.
If there would be anyone who is not able to handle my baby crying, I would expect same action.

Living in an apartment with a baby is fine. Neighbors make all kinds of noise. If someone has a problem with your kid crying, then it’s that person who has the problem. As long as you’re doing your best to care for the kid, then you’re doing your job. 
Before I moved to my current place, my upstairs neighbor had a baby. Her husband brought me some of the food that people had made for the after the baby was born and said he apologized in advance if the baby got too noisy. I told him it wasn’t a big deal, and honestly it wasn’t. I could hear him cry sometimes, but not really. It was more annoying when the people before them would have their television turned up way too loud. 
They also had a couple of big celebrations for the baby with lots of family and people from their church coming over. A couple days before each of them, they came knocked on my door to say “Hey we’re celebrating. There will be singing and merrymaking, but we’ll quiet everything down by 9:30pm.” I really appreciated that heads up, and it was wonderful to see a family and their community celebrating. They also brought me food before it started. 
All of that is to say, be considerate but you don’t need to stress yourself too much about your baby making noise. Babies make noise. It’s what they do. It’s not a reflection on you as a parent or a neighbor.

This would be so far down the worry list for me. There’s a certain amount of noise acceptance and everyday living noise that’s to be expected when living in apartments. Thankfully a new born’s cries are not the loud shrieks that come as they get older. Middle of the night footsteps or rocking chairs can be cushioned with area rugs. If you’re really intent on moving after the baby is born I strongly recommend figuring that out now and starting to purge and pack as soon as possible. It will not be easy the farther you get or once the baby is here.

Maybe you could talk to your landlord and see if they have suggestions? I'm sure this isn't the first new baby they've had in the building.
