High blood pressure during first pregnancy?

My blood pressure has been “slightly elevated” at my last two doctor visits. My doctor is concerned and I have to do some extra lab testing (collect my urine in giant jugs for 24 hours and more blood tests). She said high blood pressure means you’re more at risk for developing preeclampsia 😬
I’ve never had high blood pressure in my life before now. In fact, for years, nurses would often do a double take when I’d go to the doctor because it was usually low. I’ve only ever been low or normal.
No that I’m aware, I can tell it’s high. I can feel it in my head when I stand up.
Has anyone else experienced this?? I’m not even 14 weeks yet and I’m getting worried about my baby 😭

I delivered my last son at 32 weeks from severe pre eclampsia (blood pressure was 260/135). 
As Pre e is a condition of the placenta, and the placenta isn’t fully functional before 20 weeks, pre eclampsia does not happen before this time. High bp before 20 weeks is either chronic or gestational hypertension. Which do not mean you will definitely get pre e but are risk factors for pre e. 
The most important thing is to stay vigilant to the symptoms of pre e and get checked straight away if they appear. They can build or they can be sudden and severe (eg I had my bp tested the morning I delivered and it was normal. By the middle of the afternoon it was the above and I was told if I had waited even an hour longer I most likely would have had a massive stroke). 
The good thing with them identifying this risk so early on is that they can now monitor you more closely and know to watch for pre e.

Yeah I never had problems with BP before and then the last few weeks is when the high BP hit.

Honestly I had it in my first pregnancy and it turned into preeclampsia. Dont even remember how many 24 hour urine labs I had to do. I was in the hospital 2 times in my 3rd trimester and I was induced at 35+6 because of it. They will watch you very closely, and it is a good idea to go on a low sodium diet and drink plenty of water. Are you being out on any blood pressure medicine?
