My pronunciation is Are-E-elle-a. I thought it was really pretty until my friend brought that up and now I can’t decide lol help

I doubt many adults would make that connection, but kids would, especially middle school age. I always try to consider crafty ways dumb kids could make fun of my kids name and try not to make it easy for them, if that makes sense.

I wanted to use Ophelia as a girls name and my SIL was like “that’s gross. It sounds like ‘oh-feel-ya’” People are going to make connections that aren’t there. Oh well. If you like the name then that’s what matters.

I teach high school and had a super sweet student named Ariella last year. I loved her name! I never made any connection like that, and never heard any of my other students saying anything about her name (and trust me, those kids can be brutal lol)
