Who has successfully been able to continue breastfeeding first baby while pregnant with a second?

I'm currently 26 weeks (got pregnant in Sept 2018). At the time I got pregnant my 1 year-old was still breastfeeding at naps and during the night and I still had a good supply. She is now 18 months old and still nurses at naps and during the night, but I am producing very little milk now. She mainly is suckling for comfort.

It’s very difficult to maintain your supply because progesterone, which is the main hormone pumped out by your placenta during pregnancy, is a prolactin inhibitor- the hormone responsible for your milk production. In the beginning it may be easier because your placenta isn’t developed yet, but as your pregnancy progresses, it will get harder.

I had to give up, my daughter was 10 months so we weren’t far off planning on stopping anyway, her latch completely changed and I had such sore nipples!!! Plus she wasn’t even that keen to feed any more, her feeds became extremely short and she would get distracted so easily. We breastfed for a month after I found out I was pregnant (so until I was about 8 weeks) and I managed to get her down to one feed a day and then just stopped it. She never showed any signs of missing it or getting upset. I was disappointed we didn’t make a year of breastfeeding like we planned but it was our time to stop.
