How much do you pay for?

How much does everyone typically pay for after school baby sitters? I was in desperate need of after care and a parent from my daughters class offered to pick up at 3:30 and keep her till 5:30. Shes charging me $30 a day being as though I will provide her snacks. Does that seem a bit much? Schools usually provide after care for $50 a week til 6 pm. Just wanted to get an unbiased opinion.

Hell yes that’s too much! Especially when you’re providing the snacks! $10-$20 a day is more feasible, she’s not a licensed child care provider and she’s only watching your kid for 2hrs!

For my area that’s about how much you would be charged hourly. I was a babysitter who picked up from school in college and was paid $13 per hour my first year and then was bumped up to $15 per hour my second year. That was standard for a babysitter with some experience. I wouldn’t have accepted $15 per day since that’s below minimum wage.

I feel like that’s a lot, especially considering you have to provide your own snacks 😕 I think $15/day rather than an hour seems more reasonable 🤷🏼‍♀️

That’s way too much. Especially if you use her every day after school... that’d be $150. Just for after school care. No way. My daughters babysitter charges $6.50 an hour.
