When do babies start drinking actual milk ?

Question

I’m thinking about stopping breastfeeding when baby is 6-8 months, I’m 35 and trying to get my period back and running, in case I try n get pregnant for baby #2.... but I’m debating if I should just breastfeed for an entire year... dunno 😖my issue is my age lol I feel I don’t have much time to waste, when trying to conceive 😐

I had my first in November and turned 36 in januari I know what you mean about feeling you don't have a lot of time left haha 
I would like more children if I could I would like 2 more so can't wait that long hahaha 
But I do really like breast feeding and really enjoy the bonding with my baby girl so think I will feed her till she's a year old if all goes well

I just turned 37 a month after my youngest was born. She's 4 months old now. Was born term and healthy. My older kids (14, 16) were both preemies.

I see a couple people already answered your question, either breastmilk or formula until age one and then you can offer Cow’s milk (or goats milk, or almond milk, or any other milk alternative you choose)
But just to comment on the other part of your post I was exclusively breastfeeding my firstborn when my period returned at 5 months postpartum. He was 9 months old when I got pregnant with my November baby, and I continued to nurse him until I was 6 months pregnant. It makes no difference to me if you breastfeed or formula feed (or a mix of both), I’m just saying for many women it is possible to get pregnant and still breastfeed.

Your best effort is just that... YOUR best effort.  No one can tell you what is right for you and your baby. Your baby can start having cow’a milk at a year old.

This is a really personal decision. Any amount of time that you breastfed, you gave it your best!  Fed is best- whether it be formula or breast milk. 
 As for cow milk, I’d ask your pediatrician.
