1st day of missed period-too early to test?

Today is the first day of my missed period. I have had some symptoms but I could attribute to either impending period or pregnancy. I jumped the gun and bought two pregnancy tests today and both were big fat negatives. Is it too early to test? Has anyone had this happen before? Oddly enough, I peed on an ovulation strip, too and I had a faint line...weird?

It’s not normally considered too early, but you could have ovulated late. Did you track this month? As for the ovulation test strip having a line, it’s not really odd. We always have a bit of LH in our system, but we normally get a surge before our periods come, so maybe a faint line is a good sign! I’d give it a couple days and test again with FMU.

Just following because I am curious to see what others say about this & to see what others would do/recommend. This is something that seems unclear to me. How do you know when it’s the right time to test?
