She’s here ❤️ On Thursday, I was 2 days overdue and EXTREMELY discouraged on being able to have a vaginal birth. I’ve had one c section and my physicians were supportive of my vbac desire since I waited in between pregnancies. However one doctor was at the very least not looking forward to it and it just so happens that was the doctor I ended up with when I went into labor! I had contractions for weeks that finally got stronger on Wednesday. Thursday I had my 40 week appt and was checked for dilation and effacement and there was zip nada. That’s when my doctor (the non supportive one) informed me I wasn’t a good candidate for induction and I’d need to schedule a c section. I left in tears and felt like my body wasn’t doing what it was supposed to. About 5 minutes after leaving the office there was a noticeable difference in the strength of my contractions. They hit strong for several more hours until my water broke in traffic. I was in a nearby town so I had to drive back to my town with slamming contractions and a wet butt, grab our things, and drop my toddler off with family. I was at a 3 when I got to l&d, and my nurse was in training so she took freaking forever to admit me, it was a little miserable lol. I progressed fast, staying off my back and trying to keep moving. I only made it till a 6 with my son before fetal distress required a c section. So when I got to 6 and kept going, I starting getting excited maybe I really could get the natural birth. I had an epidural around then sometime and started using a peanut ball because baby’s hr was dropping otherwise. After getting the epidural, I progressed even quicker and before I knew it, my nurse said I was an 8 and went out to find the dr. Turns out I was fully dilated and she could see baby’s hair! She just didn’t want to freak me out 😂 Doctor came in and it was time to push! Just a few pushes and she was out! Had a small episiotomy and my dr was very relieved for it to be over 😂 Her stress of the vbac patient was over and she could breathe and I got what I wanted. Little gal was 7 pounds and 10 ounces.
