I’m mad he let him cry, who’s wrong?
I’m really, really irritated at my boyfriend right now and just need some validation that I’m not overreacting.
So I was laying in a relaxing bath, which my boyfriend told me to go do because I’m really sore. Our son is three weeks old. He’s a great dad and I more than trust him to watch the baby for a half hour while I relax.
So the baby starts to fuss, and I can hear him from the bathroom. I wait, assuming he’ll come to get him in a moment. I’m not watching the clock but it feels like a few minutes pass. I text my boyfriend that the baby sounds like he’s wet. No response, still fussing. I call him because I just don’t wanna get out of the water quite yet. He doesn’t answer his phone.
Super frustrated now because the poor baby is still fussing and starting to cry a little, I get out and quickly go over to the crib without even drying off to make sure he’s ok. He’s fine, so I call my boyfriend in. I ask him if he’s playing rocket league (a dumb video game with five minute matches) and he sheepishly says yes. Baby spits up then so I take him out of the crib right away to burp him. Mind you, I’m still naked and dripping wet. My boyfriend doesn’t try to take him yet. I ask him was rocket league really more important than his baby crying, he starts to give me some stupid excuse “It was only a minute” well. That’s a minute we have to listen to him cry and nobody’s tending to him, the poor thing. I hand him over and ask him to please change the diaper. He’s still all huffy and says of course he will, and walks out of the room with the baby.
Who’s wrong here, me, for not just doing it myself and expecting that my boyfriend would? Or him for not putting down the game, even though the match was short?
