How to make gel nails last longer??

Question

I’m a nurse so I can’t have any acrylic or false tips applied to my nails. So that leaves me with regular or gel polish. Regular polish always chips like the first day. Just a waste of time and money. Gel usually lasts about a week or two. But they always start to come up around the edges and it grabs my hair and clothes. Any tips on how to prevent this from happening and make them lay flat longer??

I think OPI gel is the strongest. I also think longevity has to do with application skill. If a skilled person does it, i also ask for an additional topcoat.

I get my gel re done every 2 weeks.  Mainly because of my grow out and I want new color and it’s easy to make my appointments. You must not go to be good place

If your nail tech isn’t prepping your nails properly, gel polish won’t last longer than a week, even though it should be on till you’re ready to take it off. I’m not a nail tech but I do my own nails. When I used to use regular polish, it stayed on for three weeks, no chipping. It’s all in the prep.
