Diaper rash or allergy?

No pictures or anything but I can’t tell if my daughter is having an allergic reaction to the diaper brand or it’s diaper rash... the redness is pretty big patch but its not everywhere where the diaper touches. It’s worse than when she’s ever had diaper rash, just looks different. She’s worn Huggies for a long time but tried switching to parents choice and after her sixth diaper change is when she started getting really red down there

Try putting cornstarch on it & keep doing that to see if it helps

When we worried about this, we put a+d diaper rash cream (with zinc oxide) on it for 2 full days, every change to see if it made a difference. If it starts looking better, it’s a diaper rash. If not, it’s likely dermatitis due to the brand of diaper. We also use a+d prevent daily. It has lanolin and petroleum jelly and provides a nice barrier for those bad diapers. We used powder for my son and that worked way better for him.

Parents choice diapers made our son’s butt red. If didn’t seem to bother him and it wasn’t full-blown diaper rash, but they seemed to irritate his skin so perhaps there is something in them. As for cornstarch, if it happens to be a skin yeast infection that can actually make it worse. It may just be best to switch diaper brands and give the doctor a call
