Is it painful?

My baby is 37 weeks now. I am pretty excited but SCARED as well. Is it painful giving birth? Are the contractions painful? Is it painful when crowning starts? Like when your vagina stretches? What about the stitches? Can you pls give me honest answers of your experience so I can get myself prepared and at least I know what to expect. PRETTY PLEASE. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME

Every mother I've spoken to has said that no matter how painful the birth is, they never remember or think about how hard it was when they see their beautiful babies and hold them for the first time. You'll do great ❤ just keep thinking about that little heartbeat and those tiny hands that will be reaching for you very soon 😊

Contractions SUCK. I was super adamant about going through without an epidural but ended up getting one when I was about 6 centimeters. I was induced for high BP so my body was forced into having contractions so I believe the pain was much worse because of it. Once I got the epidural, I was super comfortable and it wasn’t painful while I was pushing- i could still feel pretty much everything, it was just less intense! I also didn’t tear!

The contractions were by far the worst part for me. My first labor was without pain medication—and I honestly don’t even remember feeling him crown and come through—the contractions were all I could focus on pain wise. My second two labors, I was insistent on having epidurals... I knew I couldn’t handle the pain again. I have a low tolerance for pain though. Many women probably deal with it much better than I could.

It’s all painful. I was honestly taken aback by how much of everything I was able to feel the first time around. But you get through it one way or another.
