Do you let your baby cry it out?

Question

Everyone says I coddle my 3 weeks old because I never let him cry it out and when he cries I throw him on my boob and I never set him down. I don’t like to hear him cry yes and I do admit throwing him on the boob is the easiest solution (of course after all the others like diaper change etc.) however I don’t think I’m coddling him. What do you guys think?

Absolutely I would never leave a tiny baby to cry it out you are absolutely right to trust your instinct. I have a one week old and an older relative asked me yesterday if he sleeps through the night yet!!? Attitudes have changed dramatically. I think for me personally I wouldn't want to try Cry It Out until my baby is at least 3 months old, maybe longer. At three weeks your baby is still brand new and needs to know mama is there. You can't spoil a newborn with cuddles.
As for the other comment you make, about trying everything else first, is your baby back up to birth weight following the initial drop? I think until that point the advice that's given over here is lots of feeding, at least every three hours, so I would go to boob first until he's back at birth weight. Then I would do baby led on demand feeding and look for his cues.
That's just me, you do you, and trust your instinct, you're a good mama and know your baby better than anyone else xxxx

He’s 3 weeks old, it’s not like he’s trying to manipulate you. Their only way of communication is crying at that age.
