Can anybody share some good experiences of putting a cat and dog together in the same home?

Im scared my brothers cat will scratch my dogs eye out or something because the cat is super aggressive 😭

My old cat was aggressive, my ex bought me a puppy and I worried that the cat would go at the pup. First few days the cat kept himself to himself, we put a baby gate on the stairs so the pup wouldn’t go up. The cat would come have something to eat and then go back upstairs. Then he got more curious and would sit up on the table watching the puppy. A few weeks later the cat was pushing left over food off plates on the counter for the pup and he was eating the rest. They would often be found curled up sleeping on the same chair together. Cat died last year and now my dog is nearly 10.

I have a ton of these success stories! It really depends on the animal and their personality/temperament.

I introduced these two as they were both just a few months old. (The dog was older). They took to eachother within a couple days. Sadly, my cat is gone (feline leukemia). The day my cat was dying, my dog laid with her and whined and tried to cuddle her. It broke my heart, but that's how I know they were good buds til the end 😪. For the record, i introduced this big lug (about 6 months old at the time) to the cat and the dog shortly before cat died, and he took to her well. Even a little scared of her, which is funny given how big he is.
