My boyfriend and I have been together for a year now. I regularly stay at his apartment every weekend and his grandmother, mom, and sister live there too. I don't usually hangout with them since the sister works late at night and sleeps during the day, the grandma speaks only Spanish and I'm still learning, and the mom usually stays in her room. His father and I get along just fine, but he doesn't live here. I'm wondering what I could do to connect with them more. I've tried offering to take them to dinner or the movies, but they don't like going out. Whenever his sister does want to hangout, my boyfriend says no and I'm usually in an awkward position. They're going to be my in laws soon, and I don't want to feel weird around them.
