NIPT wait till 15wks??

Question

So I have an appt Monday with my dr. I called today to be sure they would be able to tell chromosomal abnormalities AND gender from the nipt test and they said they will only get abnormality results back and don’t tell gender until 15 weeks...wth?! People are finding out at 12!
Has anyone else been told this? I’ll be 13 weeks on Sunday.

There is an option on the form to mark if you want to find out the sex but some doctors will automatically mark no so people take the test for the right reasons and not just the sex of the baby.

I got my NIPT results yesterday at 11 weeks 5 days and they offered to tell me the gender but I said I didn’t want to know just yet. But yeah my dr told me they mark gender either way with the test. It’s just optional as to whether or not you find out

Our doctor was able to tell with the ultrasound at 12 weeks. But they are confirming with this test.
