Should their kids be held accountable as well?

Have you heard about the scandal with Lori Loughlin from Full House and Felicity Huffman from Desperate Housewives?? Them and several others have been caught for buying their kids spot in prestigious universities. Lori Loughlins daughter apparently is a YouTube influencer and had said in one of her videos that she doesn’t even care about school and then later tried to take it back. I know this has been going on for a long time, but it’s never been this insane. Paying to fake that your child was on a rowing team to get them into college is just not okay! They should have to get in for real just like everyone else, but just be able to pay half a million dollars! And some of these kids knew their parents did it! A lot of students are really upset about this and I’m right there with them. I didn’t get into even UC, let alone Stanford and USC!  I think they’re applications should be disqualified. These rich kids need to learn that their are consequences to not just their own actions, but their parents actions and they can’t just expect to not play by the rules just because mommy is famous and got you famous! Like the fucking privilege!! I’m so pissed!! So what do you guys think?

I find it really hard to believe when they say none of the kids knew.  I mean did they not find it odd that their grades weren’t good enough, yet they still got into the schools they wanted?  They didn’t realize they way they took their tests were different from their friends?

These kids knew! You knew if you were on the polo team or not! And you knew if your SAT score miraculous jumped by 400 points. Give me a break! They should have consequences too, especially considering all the advantages they had before their parents decided to rig the system in their favor.

Olive and her sister knew about it. There was a post o. Her IG talking about how much she (olivia) loved the water sport and blah blah blah. She deleted it now because she dropped out

Definitely they should be held accountable they knew what was going on. One daughter lost her partnership with Sephora & they both dropped out of the school (which they probably would have been kicked out of anyway). Their test scores need to be thrown out as well as any grades, academic achievements they’ve had so far. Idc if they’re seniors they need to redo college all over again, if they even have the aptitude.

I think this should highlight the larger part of inequality in higher education. While this is fraud in the legal sense, its close cousin legacy or large donation enrollments are equally awful. Until we start holding them all accountable nothing will change.

They have all kinds of privileges already just by having money, they should not be taking a spot from some kid who busted their ass to get in and got wait listed because there weren't enough spots open. I think if they're that dumb that they didn't know they didn't earn their spot, then they really shouldn't be there...

It depends how much they knew about it. But the applications have to be from them, so they must know something. But if the girl really didn’t care about school, I can see it as a coercion situation. Where she felt she had to go along with it because she’s dependent on her parents. I mean imagine the upper hand wealthy and powerful parents have over their privileged children. They can alter their lives completely. At the same time, I think it’s totally possible some didn’t know. I think some of the situations were where they had their exams proctored differently? I think it’s possible the kids didn’t know that was illegal or out of the norm.
