am I an egirl? (online dating and whatnot)

so a couple of weeks ago I met this guy online through friends on an app for gamers (discord). And apparently, he lives 5 minutes away from me and is also a high school dropout. After talking, he started to take a liking to me even though we havent met in real life. Something about him also attracted me and I confessed to him as well. Now we’re “together” but I feel like it’s kind of weird to date someone online that you’ve never met irl. I’m scared to tell other people because I’m afraid they will call me an egirl, someone who tries to find love online and takes advantage of other gamers. I genuinely like gaming and I just want friends to play with though, please give your opinions down below because idk what to doooo

You know your intentions, you weren't trying to tale advantage of anyone, you just met someone while you were participating in your hobby. That's completely normal!

based on your story it doesnt sound like yall should date at all, in person and online. yall should really go back to having a focus on school,  you're so young and being a drop out this young is setting you up for failure.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with meeting people online but I don’t understand  how people consider themselves to be in relationships with people they’ve never met. Even with Skype Or  FaceTime you can’t really determine someone’s true character until you’ve spent time with them in person and see for yourself how they deal with everyday life situations.

I met my husband on an online game. 11 years later we are married and expecting our first baby together. I “met” him when I was 15 but didn’t start “dating” him until I turned 18 and went to college. My parents were freaked out by the idea but I met him irl 3 months into our romantic relationship. I made sure we met in a crowded, well lit place and texted two other people updates just in case he was playing the long game and waited 3 years to murder me. 😆 No one made fun of me or called me an egirl for the entire time we were long distance. Be cautious -- this could be an older guy catfishing you because he wants a young girl. No matter how mature you think you are, older guys prey on young girls. Like other commenters, I suggest you drop this guy and look into going back to school.

You all shouldn’t be “dating” at all. You’re too young. You are also right in the prime age group for predators to go after, and discord would be the perfect place to prey upon young girls. My advice? Focus on school and if you’re going to find someone to date, find someone at your school.
Also, maybe I’m just way out of the loop when it comes to common lingo, but I have never heard the term “egirl” at all.
